Can I run a campaign if I am not from a nonprofit organization?

Learn about RallyUp’s policies and IRS restrictions for fundraising to benefit an individual.

RallyUp works primarily with nonprofits and individuals on charity fundraising. Our focus is on providing the best platform to help charitable organizations and causes raise money. If you are looking to run a campaign to raise funds for an individual, you can look for a nonprofit organization to partner with. The nonprofit organization can collect the funds and then distribute accordingly. With that said, there are still some legal restrictions regarding the types of fundraising permitted to benefit individuals.

Raffles and sweepstakes

Per IRS Regulations, the funds raised from a raffle must directly benefit a 501(c) nonprofit organization. It is not possible to run a raffle to benefit an individual or for-profit company.

Sweepstakes also have some legal requirements. The proceeds from a sweepstakes can go to a for-profit company, but not to an individual.
